| Sandusky Register ERIE COUNTY Public Defender Public Defenders Office In accordance with Chapter 120 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Erie County Public Defender shall be appointed by the Erie County Public Defender Commission for a term not to exceed four years. To be statutorily eligible for the position, the Erie County Public Defender shall be an attorney with a minimum of two years of experience in the practice of law and be admitted to the practice of law in Ohio at least one year prior to appointment.
