South Central girls earn district runner-up

NORTH ROBINSON — Area athletes across 21 events advanced out of the Division V district track and field championship meet on Saturday at Colonel Crawford High School. The top four placers in each boys event are headed to the regional meet at Fostoria, while the top four girls placers will compete at Cuyahoga Heights on May 28 and May 30. The South Central girls advanced athletes in 10 events, while St. Paul moved on athletes in six events. The Trojans totaled 99 points to finish as district runner-up behind host Colonel Crawford (122). The Flyers scored 70 points to finish fourth behind Arlington (79). Autumn Fry won the discus throw (126 feet, 3 inches) and placed second in the 100-meter dash (13.1 seconds) and was fourth in the shot put (34 feet, 1.5 inches). Lauren Ingram won the high jump (five feet) for the Trojans, while Emily Lamoreaux was second in the 100 hurdles (17.6) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (51.5). Taylor Smith finished second in the pole vault (10 feet), and teammate Falynn Schumacher was third (9 feet, 6 inches). Schumacher also advanced in fourth place in the 200 (27.5), and Kaili Ingram was third in the 100 hurdles (17.9). South Central's 4x100 relay team of Riley Lydy, Lindsey Webb, and Kaili and Lauren Ingram also placed second in 51.7 seconds. St. Paul's Deanna Vazquez won the 400 in 1:00.2 and took second in the 200 in 26.9 seconds. Teammate Amelia Stoll was third in the 200 (27.2) and fourth in the 100 (13.4). Both runners joined Frances Donnelly and Aubrie Bogard to win the 4x400 in 4:14.3. Also for the Flyers, the 4x800 distance relay of Jenny Schwan, Donnelly, Kennedie Frazee, and Kate Ware placed fourth in 10:51.9. New London's Kelsey Pauley placed second in the shot put (36 feet, 4 inches), and Valery Henry was fourth (2:30.68) in the 800. Monroeville's Payton Weilnau was third in the long jump (15 feet, 3.75 inches). Among area boys, Monroeville's Brycen Dunlap won the shot put (48 feet, 8 inches). Plymouth's Izaya Reynolds won the 400 (50.8) and was third in the 200 (23.9). New London's Jayden Bracken was second in the pole vault (12 feet), and Carter Hicks was third in the 3200 in 9:55.9. Also for NL, the 4x800 relay of Garret Carruthers, Fritz McCully, Hicks, and Ryan Twining placed fourth in 8:41.93. Plymouth's Isaiah Miller also advanced by placing third in the 300 hurdles (41.8). At the Div. III site in Oak Harbor, Willard's Jonas Tackett was second in the high jump (6 feet, 3 inches) and is headed to the regional meet in Piqua next week.
