Firelands spotlights volunteer Jerry Adams

SANDUSKY — For May, Firelands Health placed its monthly volunteer spotlight on Jerry Adams. He began volunteering for Firelands in 2019 "and has since poured his heart into serving others through his work in spiritual care," according to a Firelands statement. "It's not uncommon to see Jerry walking the halls with quiet purpose, stopping room by room to offer a prayer, a comforting presence or simply a moment of peace to those who need it most," the statement read. "He has brought light to countless patients and families during some of their most difficult days." Originally from Marion, Ohio, Adams now calls Castalia home with the love of his life, Betty Lou Adams. "Their warmth and devotion to each other shine through in everything they do," the statement read. Before joining us as a volunteer, Adams spent 19 years as a certified welder at Union Tank Car Co., a career he worked in until retiring 18 years ago. When he's not volunteering, Adams enjoys woodworking and collecting coins. When asked what he loves most about volunteering, Adams said it's the gratitude he sees in the eyes of those he prays with. "For Adams, those moments are everything," the statement read. "We are truly grateful for Jerry's service, warmth and the heart he brings to Firelands Health. His impact extends far beyond the walls of any room he enters."
