Traci Renee Johnston

MILAN — Traci Renee Johnston, 49, residing in Milan, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, after a brief illness.She was born Dec. 5, 1967, in Fremont, to Richard and Karen (Winebrenner) Cannode. Traci was raised in Kenton, Ohio, and graduated from Kenton High School.She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo, and her master's in education from Ashland University. Traci enjoyed working as a math teacher in the Firelands High School for the past 18 years.She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan where she sang in the church choir, and was a member of multiple education associations including the OEA, NEOEA, NEA and FEA.Traci was a wonderful wife and mother to her children, always supportive, loving and full of life. She loved life, her family and friends, and will be remembered for her smile, and her bubbly and energetic personality.In addition to her parents, Traci is survived by her husband of 25 years, Brent Johnston; three children, Michelle, MacKenzie and Bryan Johnston; Danish exchange daughter, Cecilie; brother, Todd (Holly) Cannode; mother-in-law, Theresa Johnston; sister-in-law, Kristie (Stoney) Jarrett; brothers-in-law, Scott (Sharon), Kurt (Lia), and Doug (Marcia) Johnston; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.Traci was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Al Johnston; and niece, Emily Johnston.Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1 S. Main St. Milan. Prayers will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 145 S. Center St., Milan, with the Rev. Gilbert Mascarenhas presiding.
