Man cited for boat crash

SANDUSKY — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is investigating how a boat ended up perched on a break wall north of the Sandusky Yacht Club.At about 10:40 p.m. Saturday, a boat struck the break wall and became stuck on top of it causing significant damage including a hull breach, department spokesman David Roorbach said.The boat had eight occupants, two of whom were taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center for injuries by Sandusky fire.The boat's operator — Louis Forconi, 62 — was cited with improper lookout and failure to control, but the crash is still under investigation, Roorbach said."One thing our officers have been noticing is with the higher water levels, obstacles that used to be easier to see are now covered more with water, which could have played a part in this," Roorbach said.
