Woman tries to help man, gets cited for drugs

PERKINS TWP. — In the Bible, the Good Samaritan wasn't arrested for drug possession.A Sandusky woman who tried to behave like a concerned citizen by asking police to check the welfare of a man she thought might be in danger found herself cited for marijuana possession Thursday, according to a report. Danielle Renee Jacobs, 26, of the 4000 block of Venice Road, was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia by Perkins police at about 6 p.m. Thursday. Jacobs came to the police department, 2610 Columbus Ave., Thursday to report that she had just delivered food for a local business to an elderly man at the 3600 block of Matthes Ave.She explained that when she returned to her restaurant, she discovered that the money that had been given to her had suicidal comments written on it, including statements about a person wanting to die. Jacobs also noticed that the man she had dealt with did not appear to be making much sense when he talked to her, the report stated. Police went to the home and determined that the comments probably had been written by a young man, the son of the customer, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and who has written on money in the past.While Officer Joe Bauman talked to Jacobs at the station, he noticed a smell of burnt marijuana. When he asked Jacobs for ID for his report, she said it was in her car, and the two walked out to her vehicle.
