Enter a 'friendly' photo contest

BERLIN TWP. — The Friends of Old Woman Creek has a new photo contest this year. We are seeking photos taken at Old Woman Creek in the Huron area to make into postcards for its gift shop. Judges will be the staff of Old Woman Creek, and winners will get $30 and a one-year membership to the friends group. The number of winners depends on the number of entries. The deadline to submit is Aug. 30. Email the photos, as a JPG file in landscape format, to info@friendsowc.org. Include your name, address and phone number along with a description or title of the photo. There is a limit of two photos per photographer. All money from the postcard sales will be used to benefit programs and research at Old Woman Creek, a state nature preserve and national estuarine research reserve just east of Huron. Subjects can include animals, beach, trees, flowers, buildings, people — anything that shows the character of the estuary. Photos must have been taken from the trails, the visitor center, the beach or from kayaks or canoes. Full rules are on the website at friendsowc.org
