PREP ROUNDUP: Clyde wins 20-1 to clinch Lake softball title

SANDUSKY — The Clyde softball team scored 14 runs in the first inning and clinched the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division title with a 20-1 five-inning run-rule thumping of Sandusky at Dorn Park on Monday. The Fliers improved to 13-8 overall and finished 9-1 in league play. Mya Stiefel finished with four singles, four runs scored and a run batted in for Clyde. Ember Andres added two doubles, a single, three RBI and two runs scored while Ariah Farrar tallied three singles, three runs scored and two RBI. Amber Dillingham singled, doubled and scored four times for the Fliers while Jayleigh Flynn recorded two singles, three RBI and three runs. Madison Myers picked up the win, allowing one run on three hits while striking out three. Makayla Popke doubled and scored for the Blue Streaks (9-8, 3-5). Bella Belden added two singles and three runs, Frohne recorded two singles and two RBI and Alexis Miller had a single, triple, two RBI and two runs scored for the Redskins. SMCC (7-8, 4-6 River) led 7-0 going into the sixth inning, but did enough late to pick up the victory. Laney Torres registered two singles, a triple, three runs batted in and a run scored for the Panthers. Adrianna Gill added two singles and two runs while Ella Browning (RBI) and Gianna Flewelling each doubled. Reid Didion tripled, scored twice and added two RBI. Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush (three runs scored), Mallorie Sowers (RBI) and Payton Preston each singled twice for the Flyers. Bella Guerra allowed three hits in the circle for St. Paul. Norwalk (12-9, 8-2 SBC Lake) trailed 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning, but a three-run home run by Saige Viock tied the game. The Truckers added three more runs in the sixth inning to power away. Audryn Ott tallied three singles and two runs scored for Norwalk while Caymen Mercer doubled and scored three runs. Viock picked up the win with 3 2/3 innings of relief. Miles McDonald contributed two singles and four runs while Taylor Monak added two singles and two runs. Monak was the winning pitcher, going four innings. He struck out seven. In the second game, the Lakers (11-9, 5-8 River) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, riding the arm of Dean, who went the distance, giving up six hits and striking out seven.
