Man pleads not guilty to importuning

PORT CLINTON — A Fremont man appeared in court Monday to face allegations he tried to solicit a teen for sex.Jared Dayringer, 33, faces charges of evidence tampering and two counts of importuning. He pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court. The court set his pretrial for May 24, the final pretrial for July 10 and the jury trial for July 16.The charges against Dayringer stem from messages he allegedly sent to a Port Clinton boy, 15, asking if he wanted to meet for sex and drugs. An adult who was with the boy made a post on social media after he saw the messages.The post gained the attention of Fremont police, who started an investigation immediately. Dayringer allegedly tried to delete the messages when he learned the police were involved.During the investigation, officers learned the messages were sent from outside Fremont and turned the case over to Port Clinton police.
