It's Cedar Point time again

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point remains one of the most coaster-focused parks in the world, boasting 18 roller coasters and dozens of other rides. Guests returning in 2026 can expect to ride many legendary attractions, including: • Millennium Force • Steel Vengeance • Maverick • Valravn • Top Thrill 2 Another relatively new highlight is Siren's Curse, which debuted in 2025 as North America's tallest, fastest and longest tilt coaster. The ride reaches speeds of about 58 mph and features a dramatic tilting track segment before its drop, creating one of the park's most unique experiences. New year, new upgrades Cedar Point will officially open for the 2026 season on May 9, marking the start of a summer filled with rides, entertainment and seasonal celebrations. The adjacent Cedar Point Shores Waterpark will begin its season later in the month, opening on May 23 and running through Aug. 31. While 2026 does not focus on a massive new coaster debut, the park is introducing several upgrades and guest-experience improvements. These include: • Renovated Starbucks locations with updated seating, décor and layouts • Improved retail pathways and restroom upgrades throughout the park • Upgraded park maintenance and infrastructure improvements These updates are intended to modernize facilities and improve overall guest comfort while maintaining the park's historic charm. The park is also experimenting with technology policies, such as allowing secured smart glasses (like Meta glasses) on rides, a rare move among major amusement parks. Event highlights Seasonal events remain a major part of the Cedar Point experience in 2026. The park will introduce a brand new featured event called Barrels & Bites in June that will feature beer, bourbon and wine alongside chef‑crafted specialty food pairings. The event will be included with park admission, but food and beverages will require an additional charge. One of the biggest highlights will be the Star-Spangled Celebration, scheduled from June 29 through July 4. This patriotic festival will feature: • Skydiving demonstrations • Live music performances • Military bands • Massive fireworks displays The event also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S., making it one of the park's biggest Independence Day celebrations yet. Although 2026 focuses largely on events, improvements, and continued operation of Cedar Point's massive coaster lineup, the park is known for regularly introducing groundbreaking attractions. With the success of recent rides like Top Thrill 2 and Siren's Curse, many fans expect additional major announcements in the coming years. For now, the 2026 season reinforces Cedar Point's reputation as a must-visit destination for thrill seekers and families alike. With its combination of iconic roller coasters, lakeside scenery and seasonal events, the park continues to live up to its nickname: "America's Roller Coast."
