Danbury recognized by state

DANBURY — Danbury Middle School was recently awarded by the state of Ohio. At the district's public meeting last month, staff were recognized for the school's recent achievement of earning the State Momentum Award, an honor reflecting the school's growth and progress for student success. The recognition is granted to schools that not only perform well, but also improve for students, according to a release from the district. "This recognition reflects exactly what we strive for at Danbury," middle and high school principal, Laramie Spurlock, said. "We are committed to ensuring every student is supported, challenged and continuously growing. This award is a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff and the strong partnership we share with our families and community." The school's growth was measured in two areas: • Increased performance index: Danbury Middle School improved its index, meaning more students reached higher levels of achievement on their state assessments. • Minimum of four-star value-added rating: The rating shows students made more academic progress than expected, regardless of starting point. The award reflects the district's mission "to instill a drive for personal excellence and lifelong learning, and its vision of a collaborative, results-driven culture focused on learning," according to the release. It also demonstrates the district's core values of leadership, accountability, kindness, excellence, relationships and service, according to the release. "This recognition is not just about performance — it's about impact," superintendent Cari Buehler said. "Earlier this year, our elementary school was honored with the Blue Ribbon Award, and together these recognitions reflect what we believe in as a district. When we focus on growth, collaborate with purpose and stay grounded in our values, we create meaningful opportunities for every student to succeed."
