Home design expos returning to Sawmill Creek

SANDUSKY — People could design a house without ever leaving the Home Design and Remodeling Expo.The expo is hosted by the Erie County Home Builders Association, a trade organization founded in 1948 to promote the construction industry.President Nate Crnjak, of North Coast Roofing, and board member Gene Gnidovec, of the Blind Shoppe, were guests on the Register's public affairs show "Between the Lines" to talk about the expo. The full interview is available at the Register's website."You could literally show up with your plans and find a contractor for any scope of project," Crnjak said.With more than 40 vendors, this will be the association's biggest expo. Gnidovec said they've got great new vendors, more opportunities to make it profitable for vendors and more entertainment for attendees."It generates leads for vendors like myself," Crnjak said. "It's an opportunity to showcase your stuff in a controlled environment."The expo allows people to see the service and the quality they might miss if they go to big-box retailers or contractors."Many people don't understand how much local talent there is," Gnidovec said. "We provide the service after the sale, which a lot of places miss."The expos will also contain plenty of opportunities for prizes. Crnjak said they hope to give away at least $8,000 worth, including a TV giveaway that people must be present at the expo to win.People can also apply to win thousands of dollars in savings from the vendors by entering sweepstakes on the Register's website. The sweepstakes starts March 28 and will run until April 11, the day before the expo.The event will also feature a demonstration from police K9s and have an appraiser who can tell people the value of heirlooms or memorabilia.
