Port Clinton man charged with felonious assault

PORT CLINTON — Sheriff's deputies arrested a Port Clinton man last Wednesday after he allegedly fought the officers trying to help him during a suspected drug overdose.Keltin Shank, 31, of the 4300 block of Darr Hopfinger Road, was charged with felonious assault.Just before 8 a.m., a deputy who was dispatched to Shank's home for a possible overdose requested backup because Shank allegedly fought him, according to an Ottawa County Sheriff's report. Emergency responders and more officers responded to the home and pinned Shank down on the couch as he allegedly continued to fight them. He was also holding on to his mother.The deputies freed his mother but he then allegedly started to fight against the officers again.He allegedly kicked a deputy and tried to bite others, the report states. A deputy took out his taser and placed it on Shank's leg. He warned him to stop or he'd be tasered.Shank initially stopped, but then he allegedly started to fight again. He was tasered on the back of the leg and one of the deputies holding on to him said he received some of the currents as well.The deputies handcuffed him and emergency responders gave him an injection to calm him down.
