Dance goes all-in for All For Evelyn Foundation

Editor's note: A recent dance at Woodlands Elementary School in Huron raised funds in support of the late Evelyn Bauer, 6, who passed away in 2023 due to sepsis. Evelyn, known for always having a smile on her face, was a kindergartner in Huron. HURON — The school's annual glow dance, themed Light Up the Night, was a resounding success this year, bringing together students, families and the community for an unforgettable evening. The event was split into two sessions, for preK-2 and grades 3-5 with the highlight of the night being a vibrant, light-up dance floor provided by Rock and Roll Express Entertainment Co. that kept the gym energized and full of excitement. What began as a small planning effort by just three organizers — Beth Krupp, Julie Machoukas, and Kelli Malone — quickly grew into a true community-wide collaboration. Local businesses contributed funds to help launch the event while National Honor Society students volunteered their time to run popular stations like glow-in-the-dark face painting, glitter tattoos, a graffiti wall, and a photo booth. The All For Evelyn Foundation donated more than 1,000 light-up items for students to enjoy, and generous contributions of pizza from Jim's Pizza Box and Domino's along with baked goods and water from local families, ensured everyone was well-fed. Parent and Huron fire Chief Kevin McGraw also volunteered his time as the evening's DJ, helping to create a lively and memorable atmosphere. With the gym packed and smiles everywhere, the event not only delivered a night of fun but also supported a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the dance benefited the All for Evelyn Foundation, established in 2023 by Evelyn's family after her unexpected passing. The foundation provides care kits for parents facing sudden hospital stays, filled with essential items like toiletries and comfort supplies. Evelyn's parents, along with her siblings, were present and actively involved in the event, expressing deep gratitude for the support shown by the community. Want to donate?
