PUT-IN-BAY — Country music superstar Toby Keith performed Thursday night during Put-in-Bay's Bash on the Bay concert. More than 10,000 people were expected to pour onto South Bass Island for the performance. "To get a world-renowned performer such as Toby Keith at our Bash on the Bay is incredible," festival organizer Tim Niese said.Toby Keith performs on stage during Put-in-Bay's Bash on the Bay country music festival. The festival, which was backed by COPS Productions and the Put-in-Bay Port Authority, became part of Keith's 2017 Interstates and Tailgates tour. Planning for the concert became a massive undertaking for Put-in-Bay law enforcement, business owners and concert organizers. "Planning this event was a massive undertaking," said Peter Huston, island ambassador for Put-in-Bay's visitor center and Put-in-Bay's chamber of commerce. "This definitely wasn't an overnight thing."Deputies from multiple departments across the state joined Ottawa County deputies to police the island.
