Elvis returned to Lakeside

LAKESIDE –– Elvis returned to Lakeside and performed before more than 1200 people on Friday evening.Mike Albert, who impersonates Elvis, has performed at Hoover Auditorium in Lakeside for more than 20 years and continues to draw a huge crowd.Albert, an Ohio native, has won several major world Elvis contests, appeared on Oprah Winfrey, was featured in six music videos on "A Current Affair" with Maury Povich and continues to book more than 50 shows a year. He is also a Westerville real estate agent and auctioneer.When he enters the stage, most audience members are taken back with the authenticity of his resemblance of Elvis with the beaded jumpsuits, gold chains and rings, and famous sideburns.Albert interacted with audience members by choosing several women to sing to and give a silk scarf just as Elvis did in his concerts. A duet "The Wonder of You" was performed by Albert with his mother, who he brought up on stage from the audience. Throughout the evening, Albert spoke of Elvis accomplishments and history of the "King".Albert and the Big E Band performed several big hits of "the King" including "Suspicious Minds," "Can't Help Falling in Love," "My Way," (a song that was borrowed from Frank Sinatra by Elvis) and many more. The children in the audience were invited on stage to dance and sing with Albert to a variety of songs such as "Hound Dog," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Teddy Bear" and many more.The show ended with a tribute to those who serve in the military with a medley of songs including "Glory, Glory Hallelujah," "Hush Little Baby" and more as an American flag filled the stage behind the band.
