EHOVE satellite center to launch

NEW LONDON — EHOVE Career Center announced its first career tech satellite program thanks to a partnership with a local school district. The satellite program — meaning an EHOVE learning space outside of the career center's Milan-area campus — will open next school year at New London High School. In New London, junior high and high school students will have the opportunity to enroll in EHOVE's manufacturing and culinary arts programs. Instruction, curriculum and industry-aligned resources will be at the school, located at 1 Wildcat Drive. EHOVE superintendent Chris McCully said the satellite will remove barriers and expand access to career paths and that the career center's partnership with New London Schools builds on a commitment to offering relevant and career-focused education, preparing students for fields in need of hires. "This partnership represents how schools can work together to create more opportunities for students," McCully said. "By bringing career tech education closer to home, we are helping students explore their interests, gain valuable skills and take meaningful steps toward their future." The two classrooms that will be used have nearly everything they need besides supplies provided by the career center. Students will participate in hands-on learning experiences relevant to their fields of study while carrying out real-world learning and staying connected to their school community, according to an EHOVE statement. Students early in their high school experience will be introduced to career exploration, while higher-level students will have the opportunity to build advanced skills. The courses will highlight practical application and workplace readiness while helping students gain technical knowledge and a clear vision for their future.
