Sandusky to induct new hall of fame class

Sandusky High School will induct seven individuals and one team into its athletic hall of fame Saturday. The ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. in the SHS cafeteria. The Class of 2026 includes: Rich Brown Brown (1970 graduate) was a standout runner at Sandusky and finished ninth at the state cross country meet as a senior. Brown broke the 2-mile record at the Marion Relays as a senior, finishing the race in 9:39.2. He holds the school cross country record with a time of 9:49 at the Mills Creek course. Brown ran one season for Glen Oaks (Michigan) Community College and placed 14th at nationals. He competed in several marathons, including Boston, and finished 34th out of 9,307 runners at the 1980 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington with a time of 2:28.41. Brown lives in Sandusky and owns and operates Sandusky Mini Storage. Steve Cremean Cremean (1982) was a four-year state qualifier in swimming and earned a podium finish as a senior with an All-American qualifying time. He set school records in 100-yard butterfly, 50 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Cremean won district championships in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle as a senior. He competed collegiately for the University of Akron and set multiple school and conference records. Cremean was an assistant swim coach at Sandusky before accepting the head coaching position at Perkins in 1996, where he led the program for more than 20 years. He won multiple state coaching awards with the Pirates. Cremean now works as a home remodeler. Kirk Fortier Fortier (1996) earned nine varsity letters and was a first team All-Erie Shores Conference baseball player in 1995 and 1996. He led Sandusky to a league title as a junior. He was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Findlay and threw the program's first no-hitter as a freshman. He was an assistant coach at Findlay from 2001 to 2006. He also was an all-conference golfer and won the Derrick D. Dickey Memorial Award in basketball. Fortier lives in Oregon, Ohio, and is an assistant baseball coach at Clay High School. He works for Cenovus Energy — Toledo Refinery as an asset operations manager. Chris Miller Miller (2006) was one of the best linemen in Sandusky history. The right tackle was a first team All-Ohio performer in his senior season and started 27 straight games. He won a silver medal in the USA Global Football Game. Miller was a three-year letter winner in track & field and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a preferred football walk-on at Toledo, but his football career ended after he sustained a back injury. Miller is a surgical supervisor at Firelands Health. Dailyn Moore Moore (2009) was a track standout and won the 2009 Division I 110-meter high hurdles state championship with a time of 14.12 seconds. His school-record time in the event of 13.44 seconds still stands. Moore earned a track scholarship to Clemson University and finished his athletic career at the University of Cincinnati. At UC, he won multiple races and his times in the 60 and 110 hurdles rank among the best in school history. Tiffany Reed Reed (2005) won 12 varsity letters and was an eight-time scholar-athlete and broke seven records between basketball and softball. She is Sandusky's all-time leader in stolen bases and was never thrown out during her high school career. In basketball, she still holds records for most assists in a season and career. Reed attended Capital University on a softball scholarship where she added to her stolen base total. Reed, who lives in Sandusky, is a registered nurse and plans to become a nurse practitioner. Bernie Seiler Seiler (1970) coached the Sandusky girls tennis team for 25 years and coached the boys for 12 seasons. His girls teams posted a record of 224-189 and his boys teams were 131-80. Over the past 24 years, Seiler has been involved with Northwest District tournaments and has served as an official at 42 state tennis tournaments. He taught at SHS for 35 years and was the Math Department chair for five years. He retired in 2011 but remains active at the school. He is the public address announcer for Sandusky at St. Mary Central Catholic football games at Strobel Field. 1972 boys track The Blue Streaks' 1972 boys track & field team finished third at the state meet and was undefeated in dual meets while setting multiple school records. Three Streaks finished third at state in individual events — Rob Fair (2-mile run), Velma Evans (long jump) and Scott May (discus). Sandusky won the prestigious Mansfield Relays and Cincinnati Princeton Relays during the regular season. The team, coached by Wes Hartsook, won the district championship by 24 points.
