The IX Center once built bombers | Sandusky Register 75 years ago, 1943: In early 1944, the U.S. Army's most powerful bombers will begin rolling off the assembly lines of a plant with more than enough room for six football fields. The plant, located next to Cleveland's municipal airport, was built by the Fisher Body division of General Motors Corp. The plant area comprises more than 400 acres.
