Norwalk Schools superintendent not chosen for Claymont job

NORWALK — Norwalk Schools' top official is staying, for now.George Fisk was not chosen to lead Claymont Schools in Dennison, almost 40 miles south of Canton. He finished second to Rolling Hills Schools assistant principal Scott Golec this week, according to the Times-Reporter. In June, Fisk was one of eight candidates named in the superintendent search.While impressed with both candidates, Claymont school board members chose Golec for his previous experience as principal of Claymont middle and high schools. He'll be hired by board members Monday.Fisk told the Norwalk Reflector this week he wanted to be closer to family by applying for the Claymont job and North Canton superintendent position in 2016. He is a 1992 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. Before leading Norwalk Schools, Fisk was the superintendent of East Palestine Schools near Youngstown.Fisk became Norwalk Schools' top administrator in 2015 and was hired on a three-year contract. In May 2017, school board members gave Fisk a five-year contract through July 2023.
