Dianne E. (Weisz) Hacker

SANDUSKY — Dianne E. Hacker, 77, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2017, after a long battle with Amyloidosis, surrounded by her loving family.She was born May 6, 1940, in Sandusky to Lawrence R. and Dorothy (Hastings) Weisz.Dianne grew up in Groton Township and was very active in 4-H activities for eight years. She was a 1958 graduate of Margaretta High School, where she was her class president for three consecutive years. Dianne received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1963. After receiving her degree, she taught fifth grade at Margaretta Schools and then sixth grade at Sandusky Schools. In addition, she taught remedial reading programs in summer school, home tutored and also served as a substitute teacher.Dianne served on the local Council of Campfire Girls, was a past president of the Sandusky Branch of the American Association of University Women, organized and directed "Little People's Development Center" in Faith Memorial Church, served on the board of directors for Sandusky's "Home of Hope" and was a member of the Mayflower Society and Sandusky Yacht Club.She married Charles A. Hacker on July 24, 1960, and together they built their first home in Castalia, where they resided for 10 years. After moving to 46th Street in Sandusky, they owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Restaurant on Cleveland Road for 11 years.Dianne was a consultant/director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, joining in 1981, only intending to have a part-time interest in sales. She advanced to sales director in 1982 and thoroughly enjoyed the business. After selling the family restaurant, Mary Kay became the livelihood for her family. She earned many national awards in the company as well as the use of 20 career cars.Her family also thoroughly enjoyed their part-time home on Kelleys Island for 33 years. They attended the KI Community Church and belonged to the KI Landowners Association, the KI Historical Society and the KI Singers.Dianne is survived by her loving husband, Charles A. Hacker. She is also survived by their precious daughters, Melissa (Ty) Senelath of Lake Las Vegas, Nev., Leanne (Charles) White of Delaware, Ohio, and Andrea (Todd) McKillips of Sandusky; grandchildren, Lexis, Lindsay and Laci McKillips, and Tyler and Dylan McConahay; stepgrandchildren, Chase and Morgun White; great-grandson, Carter McConahay; brother, Lawrence A. Weisz of Spring Valley, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Carol (Harold) Balduff, Alyce Ann Felske and Jane Hoelzer; special cousins, Lorraine Robinson, Cathy Eldridge, Charles and Rita Weisz; her several Mary Kay consultant friends and associates and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her only sister, Martha Weisz Tomko.Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky.
