Commencement caps off high school for 130 Edison High School students

MILAN — For 13 years, and at some point, all 130 Edison High School students graduating on Sunday visualized walking across a stage to receive a diploma.But now that commencement day has come and gone, what's next?For most, it's enrolling into college. For others, it's entering the workforce or enlisting in the military.However, people don't need to choose this very second about what careers they want to pursue, explained senior Hannah Mesenburg. She, among others, addressed friends and family members in attendance at Edison High School's gymnasium."What I want you all to know, straight from me to you, is that you don't have to know what you're doing," Mesenburg said. "And even if you do know what you're doing, it's OK to be afraid about it. Be afraid. Be perfectly, unreasonably afraid for what's going to happen next. Because once you're done being afraid, you have so much more to explore. And, I promise you, it'll all be extraordinary."Gavin Schaeffer, another class of 2018 member, wished everyone well, no matter what path a particular person embarks upon."I hope that we all find a way to make the most of the time we have because we only have so much," Schaeffer said.
