PREP ROUNDUP: Wittmer fires one-hitter to lead Edison

MILAN TWP. — Bryson Wittmer threw a five-inning one-hit shutout to lead Edison to a 10-0 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division baseball win over Vermilion on Monday. The win pushed Edison's record to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the SBC Bay. The Chargers are tied with Margaretta atop the Bay. Wittmer struck out 12 and walked three. Edison put the game out of reach with seven runs in the second inning. Cole Leimeister had a two-run triple to give Edison a 3-0 lead. Owen Price made it 7-0 with a two-out, two-run single. Tristian Wetherill led the Chargers at the plate with a home run, single, two runs and three runs batted in. Wittmer had two hits and drove in two runs while Eli Hermes added two hits, including a triple, and scored twice. Ryan Beck broke up Wittmer's no-hit bid with a two-out single in the fifth inning. Grant Periat singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Noah Maloney added two hits. Max Jacobs pitched the first five innings to get the win. He struck out eight and walked only one.
