Police arrest two in condemned building

SANDUSKY — Sandusky police officers arrested two people Monday who were allegedly living in a condemned apartment building. Dunfee, 35, of the 200 block Lawerence St., were both charged with breaking and entering and cocaine possession — both felony charges — and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.Dunfee was also charged with obstruction.A 911 caller at about 7:50 p.m. told police they saw two people walk into a building at 228 McDonough Street which was marked as condemned. A sign in the building's yard stated the building was "unfit for human habitation," according to a police report.Police contacted a code enforcement employee who confirmed that there should be nobody in the building.Hollinger opened the door after police knocked, and officers cuffed him as they prepared to enter the building. He told police Dunfee was still inside, the report stated.Officers searched several apartments, but could not find Dunfee.Eventually, officers saw Dunfee lying down "to conceal her body" on the rooftop of a connecting building on Washington Street.Police jumped across and arrested Dunfee, and brought her back to the other roof and into the condemned building.Officers found soda cans, food wrappers and cigarettes around the apartment. They also discovered a suspected crack pipe and baggies containing a white rock substance, according to the report.Both Hollinger and Dunfee were taken to the Erie County jail.
