Ferguson's artwork going on display

PORT CLINTON — The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council will feature Cary Ferguson, a well-known artist for his artistic endeavors, in an upcoming exhibit at The Arts Garage, 317 W. Perry St., in Port Clinton. The exhibit runs from May 7-30, and the public is invited to view and purchase art made by Ferguson. A reception, open to the public, is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at The Arts Garage. "Ferguson always had a passion for creating artwork and, at an early age, was fortunate to have been mentored by Walter Langan, a master at the art of glass engraving and sculpting," according to an event statement. "Ferguson spent 10 years learning from Langan, and his newfound knowledge and skill boldly shaped his career, setting him on a path to grand success." He's opened three studios and art galleries in the Cleveland area, creating glass masterpieces commissioned by IndyCar, KeyBank, Alex Trebek, Bernie Kozar and Mario Andretti. "And then, the lure of Lake Erie drew Ferguson to Marblehead where he established Ferguson Gallery," the statement read. "It has been more successful than he ever imagined. And spending more time on the shores of Lake Erie, Ferguson began to capture the beauty of the lake in oil paintings. Ferguson has been in business for more than 40 years, "But his desire to create still brings new and exciting works of art for the public to embrace," the statement read.
