New details on Kalahari Resorts accident

4:25 p.m. updateHURON TWP. — Five people were injured Monday after a ventilation shaft collapsed in a pool at Kalahari Resorts just after 1 p.m.Authorities described all of the injuries as "minor," and two people were taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, according to Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth. Both of the people taken to the hospital were treated and released Monday afternoon."One of the giant air condition ducts just fell down into the pool area," a 911 caller said. "There's one lady who's down and out right now."It was not immediately clear what caused the duct to collapse.Kalahari's waterpark shut down following the incident, and Huron Township's zoning inspector was called to assess the scene of the accident, Sigsworth said. The Amusement Ride Safety Division of Ohio's Department of Agriculture has also been notified, and will conduct their own inspection."(The waterpark) will be inspected again before it reopens," Sigsworth said.Kalahari issued the following statement after the incident:"We are aware of the situation and take the safety and security of our guests very seriously.
