[toutembed=aq6eb3]SANDUSKY — Some talented women who call Ohio home and their powerful artwork will be on display.Starting Friday, a five-week-long exhibit called "Women's Work" debuts at Carrington Arts in downtown Sandusky."Each artist's work is unique," gallery owner Marsha Carrington said. "While much of the art focuses on women or women's empowerment, that was not a requirement. I felt it was a way to showcase the art of a select group of Ohio women artists that includes painting, watercolor, photography, ceramic art, assemblage, mixed media, glass and textile art."Starting Friday and through Sept. 29, artwork done by Ohio-based artists, including Sonya Lucas, will be on display during the "Women's Work" exhibit at Carrington Arts in downtown Sandusky.Other than Carrington, the show features 20 artists, including Hallie Davis, Linda Kelley, Sonya Lucas and Susan Riha Parsley. They range from "very accomplished and well-exhibited artists" to "young, working artists," according to an event program.Carrington explained the event's origins."I had been approached by Jamie Bishop of Sandusky about doing some kind of women's weekend at Carrington Arts that included an art exhibit as well as yoga, meditation, an art workshop, music and spoken word," Carrington said. "It was then that I was inspired to make this the theme of a regular five-week show with an event weekend (Sept. 8-9) featuring the other activities."Starting Friday and through Sept. 29, artwork done by Ohio-based artists, including Marsha Carrington, will be on display during the "Women's Work" exhibit at Carrington Arts in downtown Sandusky.Carrington welcomes everyone to attend the exhibit, open through Sept. 29."I hope more and more people will come to Carrington Arts and see what it has to offer," she said. "It is a very special venue to showcase artists, both locally and nationally, a place to inspire and be inspired creatively and a place to socialize with other patrons of art.
