SANDUSKY — Who's up for a fun time, answering questions in a friendly competition against other groups, comprised of locals, for a chance to win prizes? Since opening in 2023, the Sandusky Book Bar has hosted weekly trivia contests. They take place from 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays at the Sandusky-area venue, 2101 W. Perkins Ave. near Mills Creek Golf Course. Dubbed Book Bar Trivia, inquiries generally quiz people on pop culture, general knowledge, current events, music and, at times, certain themes. For instance, a "Stranger Things" trivia night recently occurred. The next themed event occurs on April 30, featuring the TV show "Charmed." More than 15 teams — ranging in size between two and six players per squad — took part in Thursday's trivia night, which asked people about a reboot for "Charlie's Angels" along with Rory McIlroy's 2026 Masters victory. While they don't take home a green jacket, winners can leave with gift cards to the Sandusky Book Bar. Plus, each trivia night is completely free to play. There's no cover charge, but it's suggested that people purchase a drink from the bar. "It's a fun time," said Janie Ahner, the book bar's owner. Madison Dority, a barista/bartender at the book bar, echoed Ahner's sentiments. "It's a great atmosphere in here," said Dority, crediting Ahner for creating a gathering space, ensuring people feel safe, welcomed and appreciated with this activity and others offered there.
