Clyde man sentenced to 10 years in prison

FREMONT — A Clyde man who previously pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges for possessing and downloading child pornography was sentenced to a decade behind bars on Monday. Charles J. Gibson, 30, of the 6000 block of Ohio 101 E., was convicted on five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person, each a second-degree felony. Gibson pleaded guilty to those five charges at a court hearing on Feb. 19 in exchange for five additional counts of the same charge to be dismissed. Sandusky County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeremiah Ray sentenced Gibson to serve ten years in prison. Under the terms of his sentencing, Gibson received credit for two days served in jail and is classified as a Tier 2 sex offender, which means that he must verify his home and work addresses every six months for a period of 25 years. Gibson is also subject to a mandatory term of five years post-release control, according to court records. Background The investigation into Gibson began on or about Nov. 25, 2024, the same day the crimes reportedly occurred, after a detective from the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office was assigned the case after initially being reviewed by the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office's Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to a sheriff's office report. According to his August 2025 indictment, Gibson was found to have allegedly "downloaded a video depicting a nude minor female engaging in sexual conduct with an adult male" along with other pornographic videos involving children.
