Accused ATM robbers plead guilty

GENOA — Two men accused of breaking into a building which houses an ATM pleaded guilty to amended charges. Joshua Devers, 29, and Joshua Baker, 26, were each indicted for the May 9 crime. Devers pleaded guilty on Aug. 9 to an amended charge of attempted safecracking and to charges of breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, attempted theft and vandalism, according to court records. Devers is scheduled for sentencing at 10 a.m. Sept. 25 in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.Baker pleaded guilty on June 26 to an amended robbery charge, a second-degree felony, and charges of breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and attempted theft, according to court records. Baker is scheduled for sentencing at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.Just after 2:30 a.m., local authorities responded to a Genoa Bank burglary alarm and determined someone tried to break into the facility's separate ATM building located on site.Genoa Bank employees also responded but were unable to enter the building. Police then determined the suspects were still inside the kiosk. "They initially refused to come out, so officers eventually used a fiber-optic camera from a local man, who brought it out to the deputies," Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Levorchick said. "They were able to slide it into a part of the building and saw at least one man."The men eventually gave up and were arrested, Levorchick said.
