The straight story about The Crooked Canvas

SANDUSKY — Let's all paint the town with Sandusky's own Crooked Canvas.The Crooked Canvas art studio, 123 W. Market St., recently celebrated its grand opening.Three local artists co-own the studio:• Karen Yoder, an architecture major who is now a set designer and emerging artist• Leslie Griffin, a music education major who believes music and art go hand in hand• Vickie Danilo, an art education major who is also an art teacher at St. Peter School in Huron.The trio teach a variety of classes, including open paint nights and special sessions tailored for children, adults and pairings such as siblings or spouses."I hope people will come in and we can have the chance to really work with the community," said Yoder.Added Griffin: "My favorite part is meeting the people who come in. It's neat to see them start out doing something simple, and by the end you really see what they can do."The instructors offer private parties, such as birthdays or bachelorette parties, and will soon begin hosting summer art camps.Aside from the canvas painting they offer now, the instructors will soon be starting pallet and wine glass painting."We just want to be a place where people can come and be creative," Griffin said.Reservations are required for events but walk-ins are welcome.For information about event times or to make a reservation, visit www.thecrookedcanvas.net, the studio's Facebook page, or call 419-984-3109.The Crooked Canvas, located at 123 W.
