Spring Fuzzy Show

Ottawa County Horse Foundation had its annual Spring Fuzzy Show at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday.The show prepares riders and their horses for the show season while raising funds. Included were halter classes, easy gaited pleasure class, ranch pleasure, open showmanship, barrels, poles and more.The OCHF has a mission. They work with the Ottawa County Senior Fairboard and the Ottawa County 4-H Horse Program making sure youth have a safe and educational place to ride and exhibit their horse. Along with the fairboard, the foundation works with the Ottawa County Harness Horse Association, Ottawa County Draft Horse Club and the Tri-State Rodeo Association. The foundation rebuilt the arena at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds with fencing and ground coverage three years ago.The OCHF are working on their "wish list" which includes a newly constructed two-story entry booth that will have a upper floor serving as an announcer's booth, a shelter house that can house a food booth, covered show arena and covered bleachers. The foundation will have fundraisers and horse shows to achieve these goals.Fun was included in the show. Members of the foundation made their own stick horses and raced on the horse track for bragging rights after their "horses" were auctioned off with the highest bid of $50 with proceeds going to the foundation.The OCHF will be opening the horse arena to the public and hosting open ride nights from 6 p.m. to dusk Thursdays, free to OCHF members and $10/horse for non-members.For information or to donate contact John Vallance, president at 419-656-9000 or www.ochf.net.
