Perkins schools hire treasurer

PERKINS TOWNSHIPPerkins School District in a unanimous vote hired Dan Bowman as treasurer Wednesday evening."I am excited to be a part of your community," Bowman said. "There are some financial challenges, but I am sure the community can overcome those."Bowman worked in the Wadsworth Schools before he moved on to Parma School District where he worked as treasurer for about seven years.Bowman said his role is to make sure everything the schools do financially is in compliance with state laws and with the state auditor. His next role is as watchdog, making sure the school district is being as cost effective as possible, he said."It is not necessarily about money. It is about the kids and making sure the priority is what is best for them in a responsible fashion," Bowman said.That was echoed as an attractive factor for the school district in its decision."Mr. Bowman is a natural leader whose moral compass is set by what is best for children while ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency are communicated with each decision," said Perkins School Superintendent Jodie Hausmann.
