Butcher shop announces closure

SANDUSKY — On Thursday, a longtime local butcher shop announced its impending closure. "Due to some recent changes in the owner's health, we have made the very difficult decision to close Bay Meats," according to a statement made on the company's Facebook page. It's not known exactly when Bay Meats could close for good. "The plan right now is to sell all the products and let everything run out," according to the post, noting an update will be provided in the future. "And we will remain open until the inventory is gone." So what could become of this location, on West Perkins Avenue near the Campbell Street intersection? "We hope someone takes it over that loves it as much as we have over the years," the post read. "And please: Always continue to support small businesses. It's not easy having a small business, and they need all the love and support we can give them." Bay Meats' post ended with gratitude. "We want to thank all the customers over the years for the love and support," it read. "We have met so many amazing people over the years, and we are forever grateful."
