Woman sentenced for assault on cop

SANDUSKY — A woman who assaulted a Sandusky police officer accepted a plea deal and was sentenced. Danielle N. Flannery, 35, no address listed, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree misdemeanor assault. The charge was amended from fourth-degree felony assault on a peace officer. In exchange for her plea, misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct were dismissed. She was sentenced to six months in jail with about three months suspended and about three months of jail time credit, meaning she served no additional jail time. Flannery was ordered to pay a $60 fine and $140 in court costs. The assault Just after 10 p.m. on Oct. 6, officers were called to the 400 block of Scott St. for a woman who told dispatchers she was raped, according to a Sandusky police report. When officers arrived, they located Flannery outside, where she was reportedly yelling and arguing with two residents. Flannery told officers the sex was consensual, but she wanted them charged with rape as they were not letting her stay in the home. After she asked that she be arrested for prostitution, she reportedly told officers she provided sex services in exchange for crack cocaine and had not slept in five days. Flannery allegedly continued to be loud and was causing a disturbance. After multiple warnings, officers arrested her for disorderly conduct. When officers got the handcuffs on her, she started kicking, the report states. An officer reported that Flannery kicked him "very hard in the groin area while she was resisting her arrest." His glasses were also bent during the encounter, the report states.
