Ohio Supreme Court approves new form for juvenile court proceedings

The newly implemented motion to intervene form would establish a standardized process for individuals, like grandparents or other interested parties, who want to join an existing case. Created by a Supreme Court subcommittee, this form adheres to state law, ensuring it is accessible and user-friendly for both self-represented litigants and attorneys, the release states. Key features of the form include step-by-step guidance to help users complete and file the motion, serve documents to other parties and prepare for court proceedings. A required certificate of service is also included to ensure that all parties involved in a case are properly notified. The form also allows individuals to file additional requests alongside the motion, such as seeking custody changes or adjustments to child support. However, courts must first grant the motion to intervene before considering any of these additional requests.
