PREP ROUNDUP: Margaretta, Huron record run-rule wins

PORT CLINTON — The Margaretta baseball team trailed early, but overwhelmed Port Clinton 16-6 in five innings in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action Thursday. The Polar Bears (4-2, 2-0 SBC Bay) found themselves down 4-0 after one inning, but scored nine runs in the second inning to take control. Memphis McKenzie tallied two singles, a double, four runs batted in and a run scored for Margaretta while Mason Kromer added two singles, four RBI and three runs scored. Bren Smith and Emmett Leibengood each scored three times, Robbie LaCourse drove in two runs and Carter Kelley had two singles. Kromer was the winning pitcher. He went three innings, allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts. Danny Baker singled twice and drove in a run for the Redskins (2-3, 0-2) while Wyatt Siefke doubled, scored twice and drove in a run. Grant Periat pitched the first inning, recording two strikeouts. Jack Raglow went the next two innings with two strikeouts before Nathan Porterfield went the last two, tallying five strikeouts. At the plate, Ryan Hand singled, doubled, scored three runs and drove in two for the Tigers (4-1, 2-0 SBC Bay). Toby Gibson allowed four hits and one walk while striking out six in the complete game effort for SMCC (2-2). Adam Burch had two singles, two runs batted in and a run scored for the Panthers. Danbury (1-3) added four more runs in the second inning, going up 13-0. Logan Shepherd had a big game for the Lakers. At the plate, he singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice. On the mound, he struck out 10 in a complete game effort, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. Ridge Wilhite added two singles, two runs and a RBI for Danbury. C. LP: Rosales. 2B: (D) Shepherd Norwalk 14, Plymouth 10 NORWALK — The Truckers scored at least two runs in five different innings, winning a high-scoring non-league contest. Down 9-5 going into the bottom of the fourth, Norwalk (7-1) scored six runs in the fourth inning and added three more runs in the fifth inning to take control. Carter Harp doubled, scored three times and drove in a run for the Truckers. Monroeville (6-2) trailed 5-2 after five innings, but scored four runs in the sixth inning to take the lead. The Eagles added two insurance runs in the seventh inning. Madison Reiber had three singles, a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in from the leadoff spot. Taylor Scheid singled and drove in four runs while Ava Wadsworth tripled and had two RBI.
