Firelands Positive People celebrating 30th anniversary

HURON — Help celebrate a group of students who have overcome significant life obstacles. Firelands Positive People is a nonprofit dedicated to recognizing students in Erie, Ottawa, Huron and Lorain counties who have conquered challenges in life. To recognize these students, the organization hosts its High School Positive Living Award Celebration, which will return for its 30th year on April 22. Reservations for the event are now open and due by Thursday. "Since its founding in 1996, the organization has focused on celebrating resilience-honoring young individuals who rise above adversity and make meaningful contributions to their schools and communities," according to Firelands Positive People. The students recognized at the celebration have faced obstacles, like loss, hardship, health challenges, or difficult home life. Despite what they have gone through, the students preserve and inspire others through determination and optimism. Firelands Positive People will award scholarship dollars to these students to continue their education. This year's celebration will be at 8:30 a.m. on April 22 at the Mesenburg Plaza Place, 545 Cleveland Road, in Huron. Tickets for the recognition event and a breakfast buffet are $28 per person. Reservation forms and payment can be sent to Firelands Positive People, P.O. Box 526, Huron, OH 44839, before Thursday. Attendees' names will be at the door for admission.
