Cedar Point removes Monster

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point on Monday confirmed that with the Reflector— after 55 years — the Monster thrill ride has been removed from the park. "Monster has been permanently removed from our ride lineup," park spokesman Tony Clark said. "It has reached the end of its serviceable life as replacement parts are challenging to locate. It will not be relocated to another property." Opened in 1970, the Eyerly Aircraft Co. attraction first known as the Polyp was added to the park's Funway. When the Gemini midway was refreshed during the 2014 season, the attraction got a fresh new paint scheme, and, later, monster eyes were added to the cars for HalloWeekends. While the company that manufactured the Monster went out of business in 1990, the rights to the rides were acquired by Oregon Rides, which were later acquired by Battech Enterprises, a ride manufacturer based in Salem, Oregon. So parts still "should" be available for the aged attraction, however, seeing as the Kings Island Monster ride did not open all of 2025 while waiting for parts, there obviously must be a bigger issue trying to source components to keep the aging attractions running.
