Michael J. 'Mike' Gast

SANDUSKY — Michael J. "Mike" Gast, 63, Sandusky and formerly of Brunswick, passed away from natural causes early Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, 2019, in his home.Born July 4, 1956, in Sandusky, he was the son of John Ernest and Patricia Ann (Moore) Gast. He was a 1974 graduate of Perkins High School and later graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor degree in accounting.Mike had worked for over 20 years as an accountant in the steel industry. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and watching wildlife and had, over the years, visited several of the National Parks around the country. Mike loved listening to music, especially the classics sounds of the 60s and the 70s. He was also a fan of the Cleveland Indians.Mike was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had been active with a local bird watching group at Osborn Park, in Huron.He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten (Joe) Bennett of Medina; mother, Patricia "Pat" Gast of Sandusky; sister, Sheri Gast-Graham of Avon; brother, Rick (Barb) Gast of Castalia; and nieces and a nephew.Mike was preceded in death by his father, John E. Gast, July 7, 2018.It was Mike's wishes to be cremated. His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, until a memorial service at 11 a.m., at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Dr. Eric L.
