Sandusky students charged with assault after fight

SANDUSKY — Two Sandusky High School students are being criminally charged following an altercation outside the school Thursday in which one suspect stomps on a girl's head.The two students, ages 12 and 16, are both being charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Sandusky police Lt. Scott Dahlgren.The charges stem from an incident outside the Hayes Avenue school after classes let out at about 3 p.m. Thursday, according to a Sandusky police report.Note: This provided video clip was edited by the Register to protect the identities of the children involved in the incident.Cellphone video appears to show a physical altercation, involving the two suspects and the victim, another girl, which lasted less than a minute. At the end of the video, as the victim lays on the ground, one suspect appears to stomp the back of the victim's head.Stephen Sturgill, chief of staff and transformation officer at Sandusky City Schools, said the two girls charged with assault have been suspended 10 days and will have a hearing to determine if they will be expelled from the school.
