Erie Shores Cowork here to help local businesses

SANDUSKY — She's sinking her teeth into creating a better atmosphere for professionals and companies to succeed in Sandusky.Karin Bouzaher owns the Erie Shores Cowork, 227 E. Adams St., located inside a building once housing an orthodontist office she and her late husband, Dr. Anthony Bouzaher, operated. She's spent most of this year transforming the building into "flexible work spaces" so entrepreneurs, no matter the industry, can meet in separate private areas and discuss business-related matters with their clients or prospective partners."It's a professional, collaborative, work environment where people can get together, share ideas, create their business opportunities and have resources that are cost-effective," said Bouzaher, who, in addition to dentistry, has a background in commercial contracting and real estate.Bouzaher wants to recruit self-employed entrepreneurs or those involved in startups, two groups often facing challenges for leasing or owning their own office space. People can contact the business for more information about renting space."It can be daunting," Bouzaher said. "This gives them a space to land. And, if they grow and need a bigger space, then they can springboard into their own building. But at least (Erie Shores Cowork) gives them a starting point for which to function."Bouzaher realized a need for such a space arose, considering the sheer amount of development taking place in and around downtown Sandusky. To her knowledge, no other type of space exists around the area."I want to come back into my community and reinvest in the future of this city," said Bouzaher, who previously worked in Cleveland and Cincinnati. "I'm excited to create this for the people in our community to have a professional work space that is affordable for them so they can launch their businesses."Reach reporter Andy Ouriel at ouriel@sanduskyregister.com and follow him on Twitter @AndyOuriel.Karin Bouzaher stands in her new business, Erie Shores Cowork, 227.
