Shooting suspect arrested

FREMONT — Police arrested a man Monday for allegedly shooting another person during an argument in August.Jerry Cooks, 40, of the 300 block of Rawson Ave., was charged with felonious assault, discharging a firearm in city limits and having a weapon under a disability, according to the Fremont Municipal Court. Police arrested him Monday.Fremont police Det. Jason Kiddey said Cooks was the person responsible for a shooting that took place Aug. 18 in the 500 block of W. State St. which left one 39-year-old man with a bullet wound to the hand."There was an argument, fight ensued and there was a single gunshot," Kiddey said.The bullet wound was non-life-threatening and he was treated for the injury at a local hospital. Cooks appeared in the Fremont Municipal Court on Monday for his arraignment.
