Huron library spotlights April programs

HURON — The Huron Public Library, 333 Williams St., will offer a variety of programs for all ages throughout April, including education programs, creative opportunities and special community events. Among the featured events: • Friends of Huron Public Library Donation Drive: From April 13 to May 17, community members are encouraged to donate gently used books in preparation for the Friends of Huron Public Library Book Sale, scheduled for June 3-6. A donation cart will be located by the Book Nook. All proceeds benefit the library. • Girl Who Code Coding Club: 4 p.m. on Thursdays — Students in grades 3-6 can learn computer science skills in a supportive environment designed to encourage girls in technology. Boys may also register. • Maker Studio: Crafting Technology Open Hours: from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 18 — Patrons may explore the library's crafting technology, including the Cricut Maker — bring your own materials — 3D printer, Glowforge laser printer and creative software, such as GarageBand, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and Photoshop. • Ohio 250 Celebration — Armstrong Air and Space Museum: 4 p.m. on April 28 — Celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a hands-on program exploring the life of Neil Armstrong and the aircraft he flew, including a record-setting Learjet. Children and tweens will learn how airplanes fly through experiments and create their own balsa wood flyers. It's intended for children in grades K-6. • Open Poetry Night: at 6 p.m. on April 29 — In celebration of National Poetry Month, community members are invited to attend and listen to or share original poetry. Poets may sign up to read on the night of the event on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional April offerings include storytimes, book clubs, crafting programs, health screenings, technology workshops, games and activities for teens, adults and families.
