Local paramedic receives statewide praise

NORWALK — Rodney Collins, a community paramedic for Fisher-Titus, recently received a 2026 Ohio Hospital Association Health Care Worker of the Year nomination. For some context with statements provided by the association: • On the association: "The Ohio Hospital Association exists to collaborate with member hospitals and health systems to promote a sustainable health care system so Ohioans have access to high-quality hospital care in their communities." • On the overall nomination process: "The honor recognizes outstanding frontline health care workers from Ohio Hospital Association member hospitals who consistently go above and beyond, embody the mission and values of their organization and give back to the community." • On Collins' nomination: "In 2023, Fisher-Titus received a Health Resources and Services Administration grant to develop a community paramedicine program to meet patients where they are and improve their lives through education, care management and navigation and advocacy. As a seasoned paramedic, Rodney saw this role as a way to bridge connections and communication between chronically ill patients, their caregivers, health care services and community resources, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing the cost of care." • On Collins' character: "Rodney has great relationships with his patients. He has some clients who only wish to interact with him. They won't allow just anyone into their home.
