MILAN TWP. — Edison got its baseball season started with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and defeated Firelands 13-3 in six innings Monday. Chaz Smith led the Chargers (1-0) with three doubles and drove in seven runs. His first double plated Edison's first two runs. Smith scored twice and also pitched the final two innings. Bryson Wittmer added two hits and scored three runs and got the pitching win, striking out nine in four innings.
