PREP ROUNDUP: Huron softball sweeps DH from Sandusky

SANDUSKY — The Huron softball team swept a Sandusky Bay Conference crossover doubleheader from Sandusky, topping the Blue Streaks 14-3 in five innings and 13-7 on Saturday. In the opener, the Tigers (3-0) trailed 2-0 entering the third inning, but scored three runs in the third, six runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth to end the game via run rule. Reece Hotz had three singles, three runs batted in and a run scored for Huron while Adelyn VanSickle added two singles and three runs. Rylie Dehn singled, doubled and scored twice while Lucy Hinners scored three times. Madison Holeman picked up the win, allowing three runs (three earned) on seven hits. She struck out 10. For Sandusky (0-3), Khiya Rameau had two singles, a double and two runs scored while Akiyla Jones homered and drove in two. In Game 2, Dehn had two singles, a RBI and a run while Reece Hotz tallied a single, three RBI and two runs. Tori Sepec added a single, run and two RBI and VanSickle had a single, two runs and two RBI. Holeman went the first 3 1/3 innings for the win, not allowing a run and striking out four. Hinners went the rest of the way, not allowing an earned run. Rameau doubled, singled and scored twice for the Blue Streaks while Alia Prentice had two singles, two runs and a RBI. Brooke Hastings (two runs batted in) and Elliana Young (run scored) each singled and doubled for Margaretta (4-0). Ellaynah Schaefer added two singles and two runs, Cassidy Lane (run) doubled and drove in two runs and Kenadee Lesch smacked two singles and scored. Brylie Gill led SMCC (1-0) with two singles, five runs batted in and a run scored. Laney Torres singled twice and scored three times while Ella Brownell doubled and scored twice. Brittney Rhoads picked up the win, allowing seven runs (none earned) on seven hits. She didn't walk any and struck out six. St. Paul (2-1) trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the third inning before scoring three, three, four and four runs over the next four innings. Mallorie Sowers had two singles, a double, three runs batted in and a run scored for the Flyers. Bella Guerra added two singles, two RBI and two runs, Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush had two singles, two runs and a RBI and Taegan Mansfield-Bush contributed two singles, a RBI and a run. Taegan Mansfield-Bush picked up the win in the circle. She went seven innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on 10 hits and three walks, striking out nine. Marissa Frohne singled, doubled and scored a run for the Redskins (1-2). Alaina Seiser added two singles and a RBI while Lyric Jackson singled and scored twice. At the plate, Marsh had a single, double, triple, two runs batted in and a run scored for St. Paul (1-0). On the mound, he went five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks. Marsh struck out 11. Izaac Snyder had four hits and three runs for the Flyers, Landon Fries singled, doubled, drove in three and scored twice and Brady Fritz singled twice and scored once. Danny Baker singled and drove in a run for the Redskins (0-1) while Zayden Zapata singled and scored a run. Ethan Smiley went the first four innings, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out nine for Monroeville (1-0). Jake Fries then threw two scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks while tallying three strikeouts. Hudson Bauer closed the game by striking out two in the seventh inning. SMCC (0-1) led 1-0 after a half inning, but the Eagles answered with eight runs in the bottom half of the inning. Toby Gibson took the loss for the Panthers, giving up eight runs (two earned) on three hits and six walks. Grant Swain singled and doubled for SMCC while Benny Byington and Rylan Wikel each singled, drove in a run and scored a run.
