Deputy pleads not guilty

PORT CLINTON — Ottawa County Deputy Jayson Hale entered a not guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge. Hale was charged after he allegedly cursed at an Oak Harbor officer in a Friendship food store, according to the incident report. The Register reviewed Hale's case file in Ottawa County Municipal Court on Monday.It revealed Hale waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty through his attorney David Nacht. Nacht, who filed a notice of appearance, also filed a request for discovery and asked for a copy of the police report detailing the incident. It's not clear what prompted the situation, but on Oct. 28, Oak Harbor police Officer Eric Parker reported Hale cursed at him numerous times. Parker was inside a Friendship food store with another officer at the time. Hale allegedly used foul language to get Parker's attention and reportedly made abusive comments toward Parker before leaving the store.
