Wisconsin man, Sandusky woman charged in possible armed robbery case

CASTALIA — Local authorities arrested two people connected to a possible armed robbery case.Just after 4 p.m. Saturday, officers received a call about suspicious activity occurring near the Super 8 motel on Milan Road (U.S. 250) in Perkins Township.Among the suspects involved: Milwaukee, Wis., resident Otis L. Hunter, 23; Sandusky resident Ashley J. Wick, 28; and an unidentified boy.A related Erie County sheriff's report indicates the two, along with a boy, sped off in a U-Haul truck with an Arizona license plate.Officers from the Erie County Sheriff's Office and Castalia Police Department caught up with the vehicle on Ohio 101 and stopped them at the village's BP station on Main Street.With their guns drawn, officers ordered each suspect to exit the vehicle and comply with their commands. The report indicates Hunter cooperated at all times while Wick refused to listen.Inside the truck, authorities allegedly found a loaded pistol and a glass jar containing marijuana.They charged:• Hunter with improper transportation of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony; weapons under disability, a third-degree felony, misdemeanor marijuana possession; a parole violation warrant out of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections; and a robbery warrant from the Milwaukee Police Department• Wick with a probation violation warrant out of the Wisconsin Department of CorrectionsAs of late Sunday, they both remained locked up in the Erie County jail.Authorities then took Wick and the boy to the Perkins Police Department for additional questioning.
