Alleged drug trafficker arrested

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky man is facing drug charges after police raided his home and business recently. Tyrone D. Alexander, 48, of the 200 block of Finch St., is facing one count each of cocaine possession and aggravated drug trafficking, both of which are first-degree felonies, according to court records. As part of an ongoing drug investigation, Sandusky police obtained a search warrant for Alexander's Finch Street home and raided it on Tuesday, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. Officers from Sandusky police and the Ohio parole authority, as well as DEA agents seized about two ounces each of crack cocaine and powdered cocaine, Oliver said. They also seized about $1,000 and drug paraphernalia, including scales. Alexander was arrested at the home. Through the investigation, the officers then went to Alexander's store in the 1000 block of Cleveland Road (U.S. 6). When officers discovered a large cache of suspected stolen merchandise, another warrant was obtained and the alleged contraband was seized. Perkins police, who assisted with the store search, obtained the warrant. Several thousand dollars' worth of clothing was seized by officers, Oliver said. Alexander has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Sandusky Municipal Court. As of late Thursday, he is held in Erie County Jail under a no-bond order for a parole violation.
